Weekend Happenins' and a Surprise 50th Birthday Party

Welcome back to another glorious work week!
I can not believe we're already into the second week of August.
I LOVE August! Not only because its yours truly's birth month but we also
get to welcome preseason football into our evening schedules andddd...
it's Shark Weeeeeeek!
Recall last year's post HERE if you feel the need to partake in the infamous
 "Shark Week Drinking Game."

This weekend we also celebrated my mother in law's 50th birthday.
With a milestone birthday like the big FIVE - OH, a blow out surprise party was only necessary.
So that we did! Although I had every intention of snapping photos that night, once guests
started to arrive it completely slipped my mind. Here were a few that were captured!
Please note, our fabulous guest of honor's face as she walked in the door.
#nailedit

About an hour or so into the party I realized I didn't even snap a photo
of the Sangria Bar that I set up. Judging by all of the missing mason jars
and the half full (optimism, people!) beverage dispensers of the sangria,
I'd say it was a hit!

Another exciting weekend happening was Jake's early Saturday morning
trip to the pet hospital. YES. So NOT fun. For being 7 1/2 years old, he's actually been quite healthy!
When we woke up early that morning to start tackling some pre-party errands, we noticed
that Jake must have licked his little back paws raw the night before. They were bright red
and we could tell he was in pain. We checked his paws and all around the paw pads
and couldn't find any cuts or bites so we knew it must be some type of a rash or allergic reaction.
One huge cone collar, a pack of antibacterial paw wipes, 3 different types of meds
and a $300 vet bill later, our little boy is better and back to his happy tail wag.
Seriously though, it took us a hot minute to pull ourselves together after seeing
Jake in his newest accessory. He absolutely hates us.
Another Jake-related topic! We are 99.98% sure we have located Jake's little sister.
Would you just LOOK at it ?!
(Name that YouTube video)
They're like twins! Jake is a Jack Russell/Beagle (or a Jack-a-Bee) so
our neighbors were thrilled to finally know what breed their new pup was!
I foresee another puppy in the future very soon.

Treasure Island & Beach Bag Essentials

Due to lack of shenanigans this past weekend
Seriously, we went to the movie theater twice.. who are we??
I'm sharing my beach bag essentials and LAST weekend's mini vaca with Mom.
Treasure Island seriously never disappoints....

But first! I read the funniest article the other day on how you can tell if people have kids
or not by the items that they bring to the beach. Like their children, for example. No, I'm kidding.
People without kids usually bring a cooler of beer and maybe, if they're smart, a sandwich.
People with kids bring water, Gatorades, juice boxes, 4 different types of sandwiches, cheese sticks,
fruit, chips, cookies.... I mean how do these people even have anything left in their pantries for the following week?? I literally have to laugh because I think its a hassle NOW to load up and go
to the beach that I can't even picture a beach trip as a family of four.
1 // Floppy Hat. Shades your sweet face and hides your hot mess beach hair! Win, Win!
2 // A Magazine. People watching isn't enough. Your ADD will eventually kick in
and you'll need something to do to preoccupy yourself because your Mom
doesn't want to hear you talk for 4 hours straight. This was supposed to be relaxing, remember?
3 // Obnoxious shades. Because the hat isn't obnoxious enough AND
they were only $12 from Old Navy. Weeee!
4 // Tanning Oil. LOTS. To the point where you look like you're ready to compete
in a bodybuilding competition.
5 // Some type of a beverage. One of my girlfriends turned me onto the new
Coors Light summer brew and I. Am. Obsessed.
Run to the store immediately and get yourself a 12-pack.
6 // The Cube! Or something to blast your tunes. Unless you're playing Jason Derulo
"Talk Dirty to Me." If that is the case, keep that one to yourself.
#overit
7 // Noodles! For when you get hot and need to bop
around in the ocean. Also multi-purposed as a head rest. You're welcome.

Early Saturday morning we packed up all of the goods and started making our way towards Tampa.
My parents have had their beach condo in Treasure Island for a little over 3 years and I swear
this was their best investment (other than myself of course) because I am SO in love with this little beach town. See also National Best Friend Day Beach Weekend.
I wasn't kidding about the Coors Summer Brew.
Suns out buns out!
After getting way too much sun, we headed to the casino!
I thought I would play it safe and stick with the roulette machine rather than sitting at an
actual table. $120 dollars later. Wrong.
Coffee tastes better at the beach :)
Pretty solid $5 dollar investment I have there!
This was way too funny not to take a picture of.
What you're looking at here is an obviously empty beach chair,
several empty beers and a pair of men's underwear.
What.
The beach was completely empty when we walked down Sunday morning,
with the exception of this. Someone clearly had a top notch Saturday evening.
...You then grab a Strawberry margarita even though it's only 10:30 am
and jump into selfie-mode while your Mom relentlessly tries to plant the umbrella into the sand.
After an obvious fail, she needs your help as she's engulfed in the very
umbrella that she was trying to set into place.
The wind is blowing like crazy, your margarita practically flies away and
all hell is breaking loose. But no, you grab your iPhone and snap a photo
of all of the madness. Looking back, Mom now finds this photo pretty funny.
Not at all the case as it was happening.
All is calm. After we ditched the dysfunctional umbrella.
Being a kid, per the usual.
Side note: Mom S W E A R S as she was taking this picture a sting ray came jumping out of the
water behind me. The guy pointing at something is probably a pretty good indication that there was. Treasure Island is usually swarming with them but I've only seen one jump once.
I had to google it because I was convinced there was some radioactive, flying creature in the
water at the time that it happened. Please tell me I am not the only one who has seen this occurrence..?!
Beach ice cream is the BEST. So is beach coffee.

...Actually, everything is just better at the beach.

Happy Monday!

Weekend Merriment

Oh hello again Monday morning.
I have not missed you.
Linkin' up with Miss Sami to share some shenanigans:

1 // Christmas Town at Busch Gardens! I have not been to Busch Gardens
in YEARS so when a friend had a few extra tickets to his company Christmas party-
he REALLY had to twist my arm but we eventually accepted.
2 // World of Beer with this fabulous lady- we are still irritate at the fact
that they built a WOB in what is basically a retirement community.... WHY..
3 // Wrapping up some Christmas shopping. Bath & Body Works had a ridicccc
sale this past weekend- buy 3 items, get 3 items free. Which the shopping addict easily
turns into buy 12 items, get 12 items free. Oops.
4 // Jake's pictures with Santa at PetSmart. Just.... weird. If it wasn't for dragging
my poor pup (in a Christmas sweater at that) out on a Saturday morning because I was
set on cute puppy pictures with Santa... I would have just turned around at the sight of this man.
He looks like he wants to eat Jake. No words.
5 // Sneak Peak of a quick backyard shoot!
{More Tomorrow!}
6 // Taking full advantage of living in horse country again- Horseback riding for Mom's
birthday!

Have a fabulous Monday lovelies!

No Mas Margaritas

It is now Siete de Mayo which means I am dos days late
on my Cinco recap. TRISTEEEE!
That is "sorry" in Spanish and no, I did not know that off the top of my head.
The translator app for iPhone works wonders.

I for one am ecstatic that Cinco de Mayo and any other
Mexican-related festivities are over.
I don't think I can consume any of the following for at least another 3 months:

Tacos
Burritos
Enchiladas
Anything With Sour Cream
Queso
Anything Lime Flavored
Margaritas
Coronas

Needless to say I'm well overdue for a little
detox sesh buttttt here's a few snapshots from this past weekend:

Happy Hour with this pretty girl and a few other co-workers!

A fun little assortment of our fave brews at our little Sunday get together.

Ohhh the Mustaches!

Jake lovin' him some sunshine.

Not so much loving going down the slide with Dad.

Some of the gals.

In other news, it's officially Summer here in the F-L-A
which means..... BOATING SEASON!
Until I realize that I am a working professional and I technically don't have a Summer.
Therefore, boat days will be limited to Saturdays & Sundays.
And this upcoming Friday.
Annnndd maybe a few after work boating-sessions...

Have a good work week ladies!

The Ghost of Spring Breaks Past

This isn't the first time I have said this but Bry and I have decided
that we must partake in some form of a "Spring Break" in the month of March
for the rest of our lives. Even when we do eventually have children.
Even when we're 80.
Does that sound a bit dramatic ? That's because it is.
I cannot put into words how much I LOVE the month of March in Florida,
especially when I was in college.
Every year (5 to be precise- yes, I took the scenic route to graduation)
when February rolled around we knew it was time to get our butts
in the gym slash tanning bed to gear up for the much anticipate Spring Break trip.

Let's review shall we?
1. Spring Break '07- Panama City Beach
My first official college spring break.
To say the least, this trip did not disappoint.
2. Spring Break '08- Panama City Beach Round II
We had such a fab time the year prior that we said
eh- why not?!
3. Spring Break '09- Mexico
Best. Trip. Ever.
We have like 20 people on this cruise.
I honestly think only 10 returned ?
4. Spring Break '10- Key West
Ok at this point we're all saying "Spring Break '10 ?
That doesn't even SOUND cool anymore!"
5. Spring Break '11- Key West Round II
Again- decided we had so much fun that it was
a necessity to return the following year.

Bryan and I have been so friggin busy lately that I honestly
don't even think we realized it was March until a week ago.
So here we are. Mid-March. No vacation plans.
Enter this past weekend.
So my loveeely gal pals from back home decided to spend the weekend in Orlando
and the whole time it was kind of a joke that this was our
grown up version of Spring Break 2013.
Mainly because we are old.
And also because each morning we woke up our livers were hurtin'.
1. Pre-St. Patty's downtown pub crawl!
2. Morning mimosas and getting our glow on.
3. Dinner at OPA which is a RIDICULOUSLY fun Greek restaurant.
4. Lynds' arm candy was photo worthy.
5. The anticipated boat day out at Disappearing Island for St. Patty's Day
6. Dyinngg on the boat. Hottest. Day. Ever.

Soooo that was the weekend/working girl version of a spring break/
drank too much/ate too much/got way to much sun update!
Don't forget to link up with Miss Sami for the weekend update.
And Happy Spring break to all you other in denial working gals!

Shenanigans or lack there of..

Happy Monday Morninggggg!
YES! I am annoyingly chipper this morning despite the time change.
By the way, it's 2013.
Invest in a smart phone people, it's amazing the things it will do for you.
Actually I take that back.
The clock in my car has been wrong since LAST daylight savings and a few weeks
ago when I finally decided to change it back an hour to the accurate time, I made
an executive decision to hold off on that until this past Saturday.
Makes sense, no?
Back on topic- not a ton of shenanigans to report this morning
as I purposely didn't cram pack my weekend with exciting festivities.
It feels like we have been out of town practically EVERY weekend.
1. Popped some cuppycakes in the oven Friday night
because the "baked goods" smell was starting to leave my house... sad!
2. Had some sushi at my FAVE little downtown restaurant with
Bry Baby and, of course, a movie to follow.
3. Met up with my parents in Daytona for Bike Week
and myyy my my my an experience it was.
4. Sunday walk with my boys. Can we say handsome?!
Say handsome.

This week will be consumed with:

1. Work. And a ton of it.
2. Cleaning. Literally I have a cleaning project to tackle every night.
Happy Spring cleaning yaaalll!
3. Dinners at home.
Yeap. We're trying to do that money-savin thing where we DON'T eat out.
via
4. And mastering this bad boy- which speaks for itself.

Everybody go back to getting your Monday on and have a good weeeeeeekk.

Green & Dirty

Thaaat's right people. That is how I like my men.
Kidding.
Those are just 2 words that described the ending of my weekend
and the beginning of my week..
See??!

Green:
1. 4-Leaf Clover Door Hang with Burlap Flower
2. More fun purchases from Michael's
3. Everyone loves a yard steak, yes??
4. Hanging Leprechaun Hat

Looking back at this picture, I'm seeing a lot of glitter.
I'm thinking I need to do less on the glitter decor ?

Dirty:
Like, super dirty:
If you're looking for an explanation, I really don't have one other
than- Bryan bought a new toy ? ;)
We're actually planning on reenacting this again on Saturday.

Sorry for the picture repeats if you follow me on IG...
which reminds me!
If you don't already, go follow me on Instagram righhttt meooww!
That way you can have access to these obnoxious super fun pictures
at your hot little finger tips..
SPEAKING OF FINGERTIPS!
(Ok, I feel like there's some type of a rule ?
I can only get side tracked once in each post.
Today we're gonna go with 2 mmmk??)
Anyway- fingertips!
I feel like I have the STRANGEST ailments I SWEAR!
So last Friday I made a birthday cake for one of the girls I work with
(post coming soon)
and basically it's been a week since I have had sensation
on the tip of index finger on my right hand from my frosting gun.
What the efff man??

Alright yall- Happy Friday & I hope everyone else
is counting down the hours until Margaritas.
Oh that's just me? Yay!

Drivers.... and Danica Patrick

Did you know that they actually say that!?
I mean if that isn't sexist- I don't know what is.
So at this point it's probably clear that we went to the Daytona 500 on Sunday.
Last year was my first experience and QUITE an experience it was!
When I think of day drinking it's either tailgating for a football game or Mimosas.
Well, I figured I couldn't go wrong if I just went ahead and combined both right?
Wrong.
We left the house around 4 in the morning last year and I was passed out by 9AM.
So the theme this year was pacing myself.
It's a marathon... not a sprint, Corin.
1. 3:45AM & boom. Dressed. Ready to go.
2. Paula Koooziieeee (Have I ever mentioned I love the word koozie ? )
3. Oh that's just me. Pacing myself.
Insert straw in champagne bottle and INSTANT PARTY!
4. Bubs :)
5. Vrrooooommm! So close!
6. Really kind of impressed with Bry's dad's photog skills!

So to conclude this post, I just don't know that I'm totally cut out for NASCAR.
I know, I know. I totally fooled you with my rhinestoned sunglasses,
monogrammed camo tee and my mini bottles of champagne
but I just don't really fit the part!
Reasoning, you ask?
1. If someone asks you who you're rooting for and you reply
with "I don't know yet! I'll let you know on the last lap."
NASCAR probably isn't for you.
2. If you would rather chew your arm off than step foot
in a portopotty that has been used by hundreds of drinking rednecks who
probably just had a full plate of biscuits and gravy from Cracker Barrel. BARFFFF.
NASCAR probably isn't for you.
3. If the sight of mullets and cutoff jean shorts makes you shutter.
NASCAR probably isn't for you.
And most importantly....
4. If you have the attention span of a friggin goldfish..
then honey, watching 200 left turns over the course of FOUR HOURS-
it's just not for you!

Yes, friends, I have just described myself to a T.
I just cannot stress enough that I am a highly distracted person.

Anyway! So yeah the Daytona 500! There you have it folks. :)
