Housewife 101

If you know me personally and you read the title of this post, I know what you're thinking:
"Yeah? This should be interesting."
As soon as Bry & I got engaged I knew it was time to kick
it up a notch in the housewife department.
I mean how did I even get this guy to want to marry me?
I can throw one heck of a party and I make a mean cupcake but
it is absolutely noooo secret that I DON'T love cooking and I have
to physically force myself to do laundry.
Well, girls.
Let me introduce you to two new items in my household that have
become an absolute staple in my routine.

Item One: The Crock Pot
WHAT.
To say that I have been missing out on this little beauty of a kitchen
appliance is a major understatement.
Problem: Don't like cooking?
Solution: Crock pot.
Problem: Don't have time to cook?
Solution: Crock pot.
Problem: Have a full time job and you enjoy after work activities such as going
to the gym, tanning, shopping or partaking in happy hour
but you still need to feed your Hulk of a man?
Solution: Crock pot.
You get where I'm going with this don't you?
Find yourself a good crock pot recipe book.
Gather your ingredients.
Throw 'em all in.
Crank that baby up and go.
Literally, go... go to work, go to school, just leave.
Dinner will be waiting for you upon your return home.
It is just fabulous.

Item Two: The Steamer
Okay...again on the in the dark about things.
This thing is ridiculous.
My Mom, to this day, still spends like a solid day ironing clothes.
I'm sorry but ironing was a luxury in this household.
Laundry would get done and folded if Bryan was lucky.
My method of ironing is called the ol' throw it back in the dryer trick.
But nowwww this gal is wrinkle free!
I still grab my clothes right out of the dryer and hang them up but
I have so many of my dresses and Bryan's work shirts that wrinkle so easily.
Now the night before, when I'm picking out my outfit for the next day, I steam! :)
SO. FUN.
Where has this thing been all of my life??

If you're newly engaged or just married and still have some polishing
to do on your housewife skills, seriously, INVEST.

Happy Happy Happy!

LGD: Little Glitter Dress

Every little bride to be knows that once the BIG white dress is purchased.. Check!
the second most exciting article of clothing you will swipe your credit card for is the dress
you'll wear at your bachelorette party.. ORRR bachelorette weekend if you're as spoiled by your
girls as I am by mine.
Flights- CHECK
Hotel Rooms- CHECK
Multiple bottles of champagne packed for the moment we land- CHECK CHECK CHECK CHECKKK CHECKKKKK
Just a brief hint as to where we will be embarking to...
Man! Am I stellar at dropping discrete hints or what??

Now that we have made that clear some online shopping was in order!
Obviously the first thing I started searching website after website for was
an overly dramatic little white dress. Feathers? Tulle? SOMETHING that was just 50 shades of cray.
I searched everywhere for this fabulous little number from ASOS worn by McKenna Bleu to no avail.
So I gave up on that idea.
Then I bought a dress similar to this Lilly one that I figured I could
spice up a bit with some pumps and jewelry. But it didn't scream
"I AM ON MY BACHELORETTE PARTY IN VEGAS."
..Because I won't be the one screaming that loud enough anyways..
Then... THEN... I stumbled across pages and pages of New Year's Eve outfits.
LWD? I don't need a Little White Dress!
I then concocted a new term...
LGD: Little Glitter Dress!
Gold sequins? Sold.
I ended up ordering something from Dillard's that just came in
and I couldn't help but prance around the house in it all night.
Seriously... somebody get this girl to Las Vegas immediately.
And are my calculations correct?!
THREE weeks until I'm roaming around the Las Vegas strip with some of these fabulous girls!

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

45 days to go!

Favorite Things Party { Times Two }

Am I the only one who goes through a wave of depression after Christmas and New Years wraps up?
All the normal songs resume on the radio, decorations come down, Christmas lights come down,
VALENTINE'S DAY DECORATIONS ALREADY UP IN STORES,
I mean dang people!
I usually leave all of my decorations (and lights!) up until New Year's Day
and choose to believe that any New Year's festivities are technically a Christmas round two.
Speaking of festivities!
I love ANY excuse to throw a party- especially a Christmas party.
Bring out the inappropriate cocktail napkins, pop open the champagne
andddd let's throw us a PAR-TAY!
Recapping my Favorite Things parties today:
Sometime last year I stumbled across Miss Stephanie's favorite things party
and could not wait to throw one this year.. errr.. two?

Favorite Things Party {Round One: Girlfriends }

Favorite Things included:
Stationary: Alyson // Burt's Bees: Haley // Chi Iron Spray: Tiffany // Evian Spray: Amanda
BBW Candle: Jennifer // Down the Chimney Candle: Brittney // Tinted Lip Balm: Anna
Not pictured:
iTunes Gift Card and Mixed CD: Katy // Starby's Gift Card: Your's Truly :)

Favorite Things Party {Round Two: Family }
After briefly explaining to Mom what EXACTLY a "Favorite Things" party entailed
it wasn't too hard the get the rest of the ladies in my family on board: mom, Aunt Sherry,
Gram, my sister in law AND my cousin were all in.

Seriously how cute is my Grandma for giving us all African Violets as her favorite thing?
When she walked in with five VERY awkwardly wrapped items, we were worried.
Then when she said, "We have to hurry and open mine before it dies!"
We were all VERY worried.
All was well and my home is happy with 2 new pretty plants. :)

If you have never hosted a party like this I would totally recommend doing one
and it doesn't necessarily need to be a Christmas party. Back to my theory.. girls just like to party :)
